Excursions

Kanuhura’s location gives you the chance of seeing more of the Maldives within close range. Our excursions expose you to various facets of this unique island nation. Please note that all excursions are depending on the prevailing weather. Ocean conditions outside the island reef are often rougher than inside the lagoon. When visiting local islands. shorts or skirts must be worn knee length, made of materials that are not transparent or translucent, and shoulders must be covered.

Island Hopping
Experience a real Maldivian adventure on board one of the resorts traditional "Dhonis" - local fishermen's boats. You will visit one inhabited island to see how the local people live, and one uninhabited island where your "excursion cook" will prepare a beach barbecue. Enjoying snorkelling and swimming in the turquoise lagoon. Our recreation host will escort you throughout the day.

Hinnavaru Island Tour and Felivaru Tuna Factory
Discover the typical life or the Maldivians on the fishermen's island of Hinnavaru. Our recreation host will show you the mosque, the school, the dhoni workshop and other places. Before you return to Kanuhura, you will have a unique opportunity to visit a tuna processing factory. See how Maldivians have been doing dolphin free fishing and canning tuna to European standard.

Sunset Fishing
An experience not to be missed in an atmosphere never to be forgotten: You will understand why fishing is not just the lifeline, but also an art form in the Maldives. Our chefs will prepare your catch.

While you are watching the amazing splendor or a Maldivian sunset with a cocktail in your hand and snacks offered by your waiter, the dhoni crew will prepare the bait and teach you how to catch your own dinner. Our chefs will be glad to cook your catch on your return to the resort. However, to conserve marine live, we will release the smaller reef fish and sharks caught.

Morning Trawling
Fishing Discover a different way of fishing with our Captain Bebe, who is the master or trawling fishing in this atoll, and who has been doing it ever since he was 12 years old. Tuna, Jack fish, Wahoo and Barracuda, to name a few, are the fish that can be found all year around in the Maldives. While you are acting as 'The Old Man and The Sea", captain Bebe will serve you a coconut drink, snacks, tea or coffee.

Luxury Atoll Tour
Travel around Lhaviyani Atoll on board our speedboat and visit three different islands. Enjoy a stroll around Kurendhu, an authentic Maldivian fishermen's village. see the capital of the Naifaru atoll, and have a swim in the lagoon of one or the uninhabited islets before you head back to Kanuhura.

Private Desert Island
For that get away feel of being a Robinson Crusoe, why not try an excursion on a deserted island? The isle is situated just five minutes from Kanuhura. We will take you by speedboat and provide a private chef and butler to cater for your secluded island experience. Snorkelling Trips Snorkelling trips are available upon request from the Diving Centre.
